Races of the New Kingdoms: The Amaghli for Blood & Treasure

AMAGHLI

Austere dwellers in the high mountains, the scholarly Amaghli are a rare occurrence in human lands, but they may be found, pursuing some arcane purpose of their own, or – more rarely – travelling simply to learn about the world beyond their isolated hermitages. Although they may be of any alignment, Amaghli tend towards the Lawful and Neutral alignments.

I'm not a great artist, but this is roughly what an Amaghli looks like!

Amaghli average 30” in height and have a movement rate of 20’. Although they possess fragile translucent wings, they cannot fly, but can use their wings to glide great distances when the winds are favourable. They can glide 40’ per round. Amaghli are very slender with almost skeletal torsos and limbs. Their skin is a pale, light blue and their narrow faces are dominated by their long, droopy noses and gently mirthful green eyes. They live for up to 1000 years and begin play with their own language, Maghlic and two of the following tongues: Ketelcqa, Vandori, Vanarisean, Hyarene, Old Kantari or the local human lingua franca (usually Yrenaic or Kanastasi).

Amaghli are frail but clever and wise, adding +1 to Intelligence and Wisdom, but losing 2 Strength and 1 Constitution. They have the following minimum/maximum ability scores: STR 3/15, INT 5/18, WIS 4/18, DEX 3/18, CON 3/17, and CHA 3/18. They roll 2d4 + 6 for their Heritage score, as they possess neither nobility nor an underclass, being for the most part unconcerned with material things and secular power. Wisdom and knowledge are the marks of seniority and authority in Amaghli society.

Amaghli are accomplished climbers due to their cliff habitats, and gain +2 to all Climbing tasks. They may also use their wings to break falls of over 20’, rolling 1d3 for damage per 10’ instead of 1d6. Their scholarly nature gives them a bonus of +1 to all Lore task checks.

Amaghli have the following classes available: Defender, Elementalist, Leech, Magic-User (Abjurer, Conjurer, Diviner, Enchanter, Evoker, Illusionist, Necromancer, and Transmuter), Priest (Creation, Scholar), Psychic, Ranger, Scout, Shaman, Thief and Zodiac.
They may also pursue the following multi-classing options: Diviner-Scout, Diviner-Thief, Defender-Abjurer, Psychic-Thief, Defender-Elementalist, Defender-Shaman and Defender-Leech.
